The Institute for Computer Security and Forensics Education
is a
collaborative effort between Metropolitan State University and
Minneapolis Community & Technical College, as well as other technical
and community colleges in the Minnesota State Colleges and University
system. The Institute promotes education, research, and outreach in
information assurance and computer forensics. It offers a
multi-disciplinary approach to business information security to explore
the problems of securing information in application areas ranging from
software to networks to electronic democracy.
Metropolitan State University offers Bachelors of Applied Science degrees in both Information Assurance and Computer Forensics. MCTC's Information Assurance Professional Diploma transfers to MSU. Faculty research interests cover the breadth of Information Assurance, including intrusion detection, security of wireless networks, mobile ad-hoc tactical networks, secure e-commerce, and the development of a curriculum framework for Information Assurance.
